2009
USAIGC National Championships In June, ten of our gymnasts traveled to Palm Springs, California for the 2009 USAIGC
National Rhythmic Championships. Jeanine, Ivane, Jennica, Summer, Kiera, Angela, Samantha, Jenna, Aarti, and Lauren won a
total of forty medals and met gymnasts from around the country and world...plus spent some time sightseeing around the California
coast! Congratulations, girls!
Check out this great
rhythmic gymnastics video montage on YouTube. It truly displays the beauty, dedication, and sacrifice that go into this amazing
sport.
Rhythmic Gymnastics: The Ultimate
Rhythmic
gymnastics is a branch of gymnastics which combines dance and acrobatic skills with the use of balls, hoops, ribbons, ropes,
and clubs. The sport is huge in Europe--offered as a collegiate sport in some countries--and draws spectators in a similar
way that baseball does for American sports fans. Our club is almost five years old and has accomplished quite a bit over this
time. We began with three girls in 2004 and have now grown to thirty-five registered members. Our gymnasts have competed in
State, Regional, and National competitions, and our club is the largest rhythmic clubs in NJ and the only 4-H based rhythmic
gymnastics club in the United States. Here is a website dedicated to the growth of the Rhythmic Illusions Gymnastic Club.
The 2009 World Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics just concluded in
Mie, Japan. Russia and Italy swept the individual and group titles, and there were some beautiful routines and dramatic moments!
